Multi-car accident reportedly began with aggressive pass

Florida is one of the United States' primary hubs of transportation, with passengers and freight moving by road, rail, sea and air. Although thousands of urban Floridians get to work and home by bus or public transit, cars remain the most popular way to get around the state.

Motor vehicles are generally safe, although accidents can happen because of weather conditions or inattentive driving. Drivers who text or speak on their cellphones while a car is in motion can cause a serious hazard to themselves, their passengers and people around them.

Aggressive driving can also cause collisions, which can have devastating consequences due to the high speeds involved. One recent accident shut down the eastbound section of Challenger Memorial Parkway in Brevard County and sent at least four drivers and passengers to the hospital.

Four vehicles were damaged in a chain-reaction crash near State Road 528 that blocked the parkway for more than two hours. Florida Highway Patrol officers reported that the accident began with the driver of one vehicle attempting to pass another at high speed, and the two cars collided to begin the reaction.

Brevard County rescue officials believe none of the injuries are life-threatening, and the highway patrol is investigating the accident. The circumstances may also be investigated by the legal counsel of victims of the accident.

A civil lawsuit may be the best way for victims of car accidents to claim financial damages for medical expenses, lost wages during recovery and compensation for pain and emotional distress. An attorney may help assemble and file such a claim for jury consideration, settlement or other conclusion.
