Man killed in Tampa motorcycle accident

Motorcycles make up a large number of Florida's vehicles, as they are easier to navigate through traffic and more fun on the open road. Bikes also save on gas and maintenance issues, making them very attractive for driving life in the Sunshine State.

People on motorcycles are also more vulnerable than car and truck drivers, since they receive no protection from their vehicles in the case of a collision. An accident may be more likely in situations with low visibility, as the thinner, shorter vehicles are harder for other drivers to see.

A 25-year-old motorcycle driver lost his life on a bike on a recent Friday night just after dark when he ran into the side of a sport utility vehicle in Tampa. He was riding along U.S. Highway 301, when the woman driving the sport utility vehicle turned into a driveway without yielding to traffic. He was not able to stop in time to prevent a collision.

The rider was taken to a local hospital, but he died from his injuries shortly afterward. The Florida Highway Patrol said they are still investigating the accident and considering charges against the 57-year-old Gibsonton woman behind the wheel of the other vehicle.

Victims of motorcycle accidents and the survivors of motorcycle fatalities have the right to seek financial restitution for the result of a crash. This may include reimbursement for medical expenses and compensation for pain and emotional suffering. An attorney can often help victims and their families discover the best way to move forward at a difficult time following an accident.
