Driver killed in Orlando truck accident

Trucks are essential to the economy of Florida and the rest of the United States. The high concentration of ports and population centers have led to heavy infrastructure across the Sunshine State, with a high number of limited-access highways such as interstates.

The speed, number and different types of vehicles on interstate highways naturally raise the risk the drivers and passengers take when they use these roads. Car accidents and other motor vehicle collisions are one of the leading causes of non-natural fatalities in Florida.

Even minor and simple car accidents can cause severe injury, permanent disability or even death. A driver was recently killed in central Florida when his car was struck by a semi after careening off of a concrete barrier. The accident also closed the highway for several hours just after noon.

The accident occurred near the heart of Orlando's attraction district on Interstate 4. The driver of the car struck a barrier near Exit 75 and apparently redirected back into traffic lanes. The driver's side of the car was then struck by a semi. He died at the scene.

Victims of truck accidents -- and the survivors of those fatally injured in them -- have the right to seek reimbursement for medical or funeral expenses, as well as compensation for pain and suffering or related distress.

Legal representation is often an advisable step in preparing a civil settlement or court action in pursuit of damages for truck accidents. An attorney can help sort out the options that victims have to be made as whole as possible.
