Deadly crash closes interstate when 2 semis collide

A deadly accident happened on I-75 in Florida, causing the road to be closed down while crews attended to the scene. The wreck involved a pair of semi trucks, and the first reports came in right around 5:19 in the morning. Police said that one person was killed in the accident, though it is unclear who it was -- or if it was even a driver.

The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene and is carrying out the investigation. One trooper took to social media to post an image of the wreck and a message saying that one truck was carrying beer and the other was carrying ice cream. That officer asked people to keep both eyes on the road when they were behind the wheel, also asking them to keep their minds on driving in order to travel safely.

It should be noted that the investigation is not done yet, so the trooper's comments do not necessarily indicate that this accident was caused by a driver who was not thinking about driving or watching the road.

Photos from the scene paint a bleak picture, showing one of the semitrucks half engulfed in flames. Another photo shows the wreckage on the side of the road, with a large blackened area spreading out across the shoulder and into the grass on the side of the highway.

The crash closed down the southbound lanes for hours, with one of them finally opening up at 10 in the morning. The northbound lanes were not impacted.

When drivers who are not watching the road or staying focused on driving cause accidents, the results can be tragic and instantaneous. After a loved one is killed, family members may want to look into their rights to compensation for lost wages, future wages, funeral costs and more.
