Bar fight ends with an accident as a car slams into the building

A bar fight near Tampa, Florida, broke out at about 3:30 a.m., on a Tuesday. A number of bars in the area had closed, and people started fighting on the sidewalk in front of an establishment called the Bad Monkey.

The whole thing was caught on camera. A black car is parked on the left side of the screen, in the street, and people may or may not be getting out of the car to fight. It's hard to see at the angle, but it does look like the driver door is being yanked open at one point.

After about 15 seconds of fighting, someone who is behind the wheel guns it, running the car into multiple people who are fighting in front of it, then driving through them and slamming into the bar itself. Shattering glass can be seen as the vehicle crunches to a halt.

For the next half a minute, people run away, including the driver. He can be seen getting out, wearing a hat that appears gray in the footage. The police are still looking for that driver. The vehicle is a Nissan sedan, though it is also unclear if the man who ran it into the bar actually owned it or if he just hoped in after the door was left open.

The car had been trying to do a U-turn initially, before the video clip started. Police said that they weren't sure if the driver was just trying to turn and accidentally ran into the bar, or if he was trying to run over the people who were fighting. Either way, they say damage to the bar will cost about $15,000 to fix.

When car accidents bring about large repair costs -- and medical costs, when people are injured -- it may be possible for those who are facing these costs to get financial compensation. This can be sought whether the wreck is intentional or truly accidental.
