Woman spray paints divorce message to judge on courthouse

Tampa residents who have gone through, or who are contemplating divorce, understand how emotionally draining and challenging the process can be. So many aspects of a divorce can be difficult -- emotionally and financially. Finding a healthy outlet for the emotions that accompany divorce can be a critical step in coping and moving forward.

However, sometimes that sentiment is more easily said than done. Recently, a Jacksonville woman was arrested on criminal mischief charges after she was discovered spray painting graffiti on a courthouse. The woman was in the midst of both a child custody and divorce battle. The purple graffiti depicted broken hearts and a message to the judge in her case. The woman had spray painted a similar message at her estranged husband's business.

Given the difficulties and stresses of the process, divorce can certainly bring out the worst in a person. It is critical for people to remember that their actions can affect their future -- both financially and emotionally. During the divorce process it is critical to follow any temporary custody orders as well as try your best to cooperate with your ex-spouse. Additionally, vindictive behavior such as hiding or giving away property that belongs to an ex-spouse can lengthen and complicate the process.

If people want a quick and relatively painless divorce, it is important to do everything they can to expedite the process. People must disclose their assets and do their best to be reasonable.

Divorce is a life-changing event. While it can prompt negative emotional expression, it is important to look towards the future and remember that a person's actions during the divorce process can affect that person for years to come.
