Truck accident blocks I-95, minor injuries reported

A motor vehicle accident in Brevard County, Florida late last week blocked Interstate 95 for a significant amount of time after a tractor trailer and a truck hauling construction equipment became entangled in the wreck. It is unclear at this time what caused the crash, but the police are looking into it. The crash forced multiple lanes to be closed for two hours, backing up traffic for miles.

Thankfully, it appears that no serious injuries occurred in the truck crash. Only minor injuries were reported and the photos from the crash scene do not seem to indicate that major damage was done to the vehicles.

We'd like to take this opportunity to highlight two aspects of truck accidents. The first is that these accidents are often very complex and can involve many vehicles. Trucks that overturn or spin out of control can cause massive pile-up accidents that ensnare dozens of vehicles. This can create an insurance nightmare, as people are trying to get justice for the unfortunate wreck they were involved in.

Another factor to consider with these truck accidents is the driver. Truck drivers could be acting negligently behind the wheel. They may be checking their cellphone; they may be speeding; or they may make an illegal or dangerous driving move. These actions are incredibly dangerous on their own, but even more so when the driver is operating a heavy, powerful vehicle such as a truck. If a truck driver is proven to have done this, the victims of the accident should consider legal action.
