Pit bull attacks 4-year-old, leaves him with 27 stitches

While the following story didn't occur here in Tampa or even in the state of Florida, the details of the story are relevant for anyone in the United States.

A 4-year-old boy was mauled by a pit bull recently, resulting in a hospital trip that ended with the boy receiving 27 stitches. The boy's father told a news outlet that the pit bull, which is owned by one of his neighbors, has been involved in an attack at least six other times. The authorities later came by with a warrant and removed the pit bull from the owner's premises. However, the owner will be able to reclaim the dog soon.

There are a few things to learn from this story. The first is that pit bulls are often the subject of animal attack stories. This is partly due to media bias, but also due to the inherently powerful nature of pit bulls. Pit bulls can cause extensive injuries with their powerful bites, as shown by this story.

And as we talk about injuries, it is important to consider the ramifications of them. A person can be scarred for life after a dog attacks them. That doesn't just cause untold amounts of physical pain -- it can also cause mental and emotional anguish. Add on the medical bills involved with such an incident, and a dog attack can be traumatizing.

Last but not least: let's talk about liability. Depending on the circumstances of the case, the owner of the dog could be held liable for the incident. When that is true, the victim of the dog attack should consult with an attorney to make sure their case proceeds smoothly.
